Alexa, in her latest interview, addressed the swirling rumours that she plans to retire from acting following the conclusion of the hit HBO teen drama series. Rumours about Demie's future began circulating online during the latest season, with some fans claiming the actor intended to step away from the entertainment industry after wrapping what has become one of the most prominent roles of her career.However, Demie has now made it clear that the comments going viral are ones she made years ago, while facing challenges breaking into Hollywood and landing roles. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Alexa joked, "Should we just ride with it?"

The actress revealed that while she was largely unaware of the online chatter, she recalled a particularly discouraging audition experience in Los Angeles before she landed her breakthrough role in 'Euphoria'. As per the report, she noted the exclusion of Hispanic actors while reviewing a casting notice for a lead role. "I was reading it, and it really hit me - and I kept having that experience," Demie said.The actor, who is half Mexican, explained that repeated encounters with similar barriers left her questioning her future in the industry. "I was sick of going into those rooms, and this was during that time when you're young and every few months you're just like, 'I'm quitting, I'm quitting,'" she recalled.

Despite the early frustrations, she added, "But knowing me, I never would have quit. I'm more of the energy of like, 'No, I'm going to show you I can do it'."Rumours began doing the rounds after an episode of The A24 Podcast from 2020, resurfaced online in which Demie spoke candidly with actor and filmmaker Nathan Fielder about her frustrations early in her career. At the time, she questioned whether there was enough space in Hollywood for Latina actresses and admitted she had considered giving up acting.
