Carson Hocevar made a memorable appearance at this year's Met Gala. The young driver became the first NASCAR representative to attend the iconic fashion event since Jeff Gordon appeared more than a decade ago. The invitation marked another major moment in Hocevar's rapidly rising career. At just 23 years old, he has already become one of the most talked-about talents in stock car racing.
Talladega celebration led to the invite
Carson Hocevar's appearance was reportedly made possible by his viral celebration after winning at Talladega Superspeedway race. Following the victory, he drove down the front stretch while sitting on the car window and celebrated with fans. The footage spread quickly online and caught the attention of Met Gala organizers. According to Hocevar, NASCAR was contacted soon afterward, and he received an unexpected invitation to the prestigious event.
Cassidy Towriss helped pull it together
Carson Hocevar said Cassidy Towriss played a crucial role in arranging the experience. She is married to Dan Towriss, whose company TWG Motorsports owns Spire Motorsports. Speaking to FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, Carson Hocevar said: "She knew exactly who to hook me up with. I went to Texas for the race [last weekend] and went and got fitted and got everything. She was a lifesaver in the whole deal." He added: "It was luckily that my favorite [suit] was the gray one [which he wore] and it was the first one [he tried on]. And I didn’t want to be like, ‘I like the first one’ because they are going to think I just don’t want to try anymore on. ... They all liked the first one. "They handled everything. I was like, ‘I have no preconceived notion, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. You just take care of me'."
Sabrina Carpenter rumors put to rest
Although social media buzz suggested he may have met Sabrina Carpenter, Hocevar confirmed that the meeting never happened. Even so, the NASCAR driver said the event exceeded all expectations and gave him the chance to meet many notable figures from entertainment and fashion. Hocevar admitted he was most surprised by how many people recognized both him and NASCAR. "It was shocking how many people knew of NASCAR and knew of me," he said. "There was a bunch of people I got to meet. It was just an opportunity and experience that I never thought I would go to and enjoy. "It’s a total different universe and world than I’m used to."
Carson Hocevar currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports.
