Manoj Tiwari to Pawan Singh; Top singers of the Bhojpuri cinema

The Bhojpuri cinema has been blessed with some exceptional singers in recent years. Several singers are getting applauded for their melodious voice and singing talent, and are enjoying a huge fan following all over the country. Here, we compile a list of top singers of the Bhojpuri film industry.

Bhojpuri singer Kalpana Potwary has sung in a large number of Bhojpuri movies. She is best known for her traditional folk songs. She has also sung a hit Hindi song 'Gandi Baat', for Shahid Kapoor's 'R Rajkumar'. Kalpana is known as the first Bhojpuri singer to present an age-old tradition of Khadi Birha on international platforms.

Indu Sonali is one of the most successful female singers of the Bhojpuri film industry. She has sung more than 30 hit songs. She can sing in a variety of genres such as classical, jazz and folk music. She made her debut as the playback singer in the Bhojpuri cinema with the film 'Panditji Batai Na Biah Kab Hoi'. Some of her most notable Bhojpuri songs are 'Lehriya Loot Re Raja', 'Kahan Jaibe Raja Najariya', 'Uthha Deb Lenga' and 'Devar ho Daba Na Mor Karihaiya'.

Actor-singer-politician Manoj Tiwari has been part of the Bhojpuri industry as a singer and actor. He played the lead role in 2003 in the film 'Sasura Bada Paisawala' which was a recorded hit at the box office. Manoj has sung 'Jiya Ho Bihar Ke Lala' in Blockbuster Bollywood film 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. He has also sung the Bhojpuri version of 'Jabra Fan' for Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Fan'.

Popular Bhojpuri singer-actor Pawan Singh is best known for his hit track 'Lollipop Laagelu' which was released in 2008. Before making his acting debut he has worked on Bhojpuri pop albums as a vocalist. He played his first lead role together in the 2007 film 'Rangli Chunariya Tohre Naam'. He makes a hit on-screen pair with Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh.

Sharda Sinha started her singing career with Maithili folk songs. She can sing in several languages such as Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi songs. She has received many awards for her contribution to the music industry. Some of her hit Bhojpuri songs are 'Sasuji Se Lutri', 'Apna Sajaniya Ke' and 'Dulhin Dhire Dhire Chalio'. Other songs by her in Bollywood films like 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun', Anurag Kashyap's critically acclaimed 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2', 'Char Footiya Chokre' and Nitin Neera Chandra's 'Deswa'.
