Debesh plans to spend birthday with his teammates
It is
Though his birthday celebration has started last night on February 27 when he was in Maldah for work. “I have a group of friends there. They brought me a cake and we made merry,” he said.
Debesh, an accomplished theatre personality, has been working on several projects in Maldah. “North Bengal Development Department (NBDD) has asked me to help them with the renovation of Rabindra Bhavan and Natyacharcha Kendra in Balurghat. I have planned and designed the light, sound and acoustic for these two. The Natyacharcha Kendra in Balurghat will be a state-of-the-art black Box theatre space. It will be a futuristic venue for intimate theatre. I have also conceptualised the exterior and interior designs and installations,” he said.
Sansriti has recently staged its new play Kothakar Choritro Kothaye Rekhecho. Based on Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters In Search Of An Author and directed by Debesh, the play marked the 25th year of Sansriti. “Earlier, Rudraprasad Sengupta has adapted the play in his Natyokarer Sondhane Chhoti Choritro. Based on the original text and his adaptation, we developed the script. Every day, after rehearsals, our actors improvised the script and kept a note on it. That way, the characters also in a way, developed a new script,” Debesh told us. Interestingly, Debesh’s old friend, Bratya Basu, who was not in good terms with the Sansriti’s frontman for a while, has named the new play.
