Musician Satadal Chattopadhyay is a busy man. Currently, he is working on the theme music for three Pujas. “Dum Dum Tarun Dal is my parar Pujo and I have always been involved with them. Last year too, I lent my voice to their theme song. This year, I am additionally involved with Chetla Agrani and Hindusthan Park,” Shatadal said.
This year, Dum Dum Park Tarun Dal is focusing on the transgender community.
“Their theme is Ami Brihonnola… Nohi Debi Nohi Samanya Nari. We have chosen two Hemanta Mukhopadhyay songs — Jeona Dnarao Bondhu and Tomar Chokhe Megh Korile. In the first song, there is a line, Tumi Bolo Nari Purush, Ami Dekhi Shudhui Manush. This line is very significant for us. I rendered the song arranged by Sudipto Paul. Along with me, three transgender artistes — Hena,
Madhu and Juin — recorded the song about two weeks back,” Satadal said.
Sudipto has also teamed up with him for Chetla Agrani. “He has arranged music for them too. Agrani is working on a theme, Klikata Choliteche Norite Norite — a
Rabindranath Tagore poem. We have put the lines to tune. The artist there, Anirban Das, and I added a bit of lyrics also. We had to put elements like the Ghoti-Bangal tiff and the song has references of our icons like
Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and so on,” Satadal said.
Hindusthan Park will be portraying Naba Rasa of Indian art — Shringara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (compassion), Raudra (anger), Veera (courage), Bhayanaka (terror), Bheebhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise) and Shanta (peace). “The theme music here is classical based. I have composed it and Mrinmoy Sanyal arranged the same,” Satadal signed off.
