'If I ever fall in love again, I will sing Sandhya di's Jodi Naam Dhore Tare Daki to woo my lady love'
Years back, when I had just started my career, I got an opportunity to work with music director Abhijit Bandopadhyay. And there I first met Sandhya di (Sandhya Mukherjee) at the Technicians Studio. She had come for a recording. I remember how she sat for hours to rehearse before the final take — such was her dedication. After the take, she would ask the musicians individually whether they were satisfied with the final recording.

She did a lot of playbacks for Salil Chowdhury, whom I used to assist as a musician. I remember when Sandhya di was getting a little older, she would tell Salil da, ‘Gaan gaibar somoy sudhu mone hoy boyesh ta baareni.’ She even praised my work with Rituparno Ghosh.
Of the innumerable songs that Sandhya di had sung, the two songs which inspired me the most are – Ujjwal Ek JhankPayra and Jodi Naam Dhore Tare Daki. Whenever I feel stressed or demotivated, I listen toUjjwal Ek Jhank Payra, as the song is peppy and melodious.

The other one happens to be my love song. I have fallen in love many times in life. And each time I have sung Jodi Naam Dhore Tare Daki to my lady love. It is the ultimate romantic song for me. If I ever fall in love again I will try this song to woo her."
