Gabu revives ’90s indie music
Musician Gaurab Chatterjee, aka Gabu, is busy reviving some old music. He teamed up with the members of ’90s band Char Awkkhor and reconstructed some old songs of the band. “They used to have some wonderful songs. Their members used to visit baba (Goutam Chattopadhyay) often. Later, the members got busy in different professions, one became a journalist and one became a theatre artist.”
Around the middle of last year, they decided to come back with their music again, said Gabu.

“One day they asked me if I could arrange their music and I agreed. From middle of 2018, we started rehearsing. We used to record the rehearsals too. We all worked together and recorded a song, Jabo Je Melay. Later, we made a video too,” said Gabu.
Written and composed by Atri Ray, the video of Jabo Je Melay was posted on Facebook recently. While Gabu played drums, percussions and rendered vocals, Monty played Guitars & Ukulele and Debjit, upright bass. “We will soon be recording and shooting the second number of Char Awkkhor Gaan.”
