‘We are like a married couple…’ Jisshu U Sengupta opens up on reuniting with this National Award-winning director
Jisshu U Sengupta has already admitted that with director Srijit Mukherji he shares a bond reminiscent of a married couple, filled with its fair share of squabbles and reconciliations. Their collaborations in the past have delivered several hits, including films like ‘Jatishwar’, ‘Uma’ and ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ to name a few.
However, their camaraderie hit a rough patch during the making of ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’, and the issues between them even surfaced in the public domain a few years back. That squabble seems like distant past now and the duo has once again reunited for Srijit’s latest film, the much-anticipated thriller ‘Dawshom Awbotaar’.
When asked about their renewed association, Jisshu commented, "Working with Srijit feels exactly like it used to. The dynamics haven't changed a bit, and I still find immense joy in being on his sets."
On the other hand, Srijit observed noticeable growth in Jisshu as an actor. He elaborated, "Jisshu has significantly matured in his craft. While in the past he primarily acted on instinct and completely yielded to the director's vision, now he is more contemplative about his role. Even so, he retains that instinctive touch. He often presents various options on how to approach a scene, asking for direction and providing choices in his delivery. It has become easier to work with him as he draws from his diverse experiences across various film industries."
Meanwhile, the film ‘Dawshom Awbotaar’, which is generating quite the buzz as the first Bengali "cop universe" movie, boasts a stellar cast, including big names like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jaya Ahsan, and Anirban Bhattacharya in the lead. The recently released official trailer has already set the excitement bar quite high.
Not just serial killing, but the abundance of eeriness, elements of adventure and crime, dollops of romance, and revenge make this thriller high on adrenaline. With Anupam Roy behind the music and lyrics, and Indraadip Das Gupta’s background score, this Srijit Mukherji film is promising for so many reasons.
Apart from Srijit's film, Jisshu is also playing the main antagonist in the Telugu action flick 'Tiger Nageswara Rao'. The versatile actor will be seen as a ruthless cop in this Ravi-Teja-starrer film and his evil look in the upcoming Telugu film has created quite a lot of buzz already. Interestingly, both these films are releasing during Durga Puja and the versatile actor is excited and at the same time a bit nervous as well.
