In
Suman Ghosh’s upcoming ‘Basu Poribar’,
Soumitra Chatterjee and
Aparna Sen will be reuniting on screen after a gap of almost 19 years. The ageless pair was last seen together in ‘Paromitar Ekdin’ (2000). While this is Suman Ghosh’s 4
th film with Soumitra, he is collaborating with Aparna Sen for the first time and it was an amazing experience for the director to work with the legendary pair.
“There was a shooting scene in the evening and as Soumitra Kaku was going through his dialogues, it was a power cut. Rinadi (Aparna Sen) was sitting just right next to him and as she saw Soumitra kaku was waiting for the power to return, she found out a torch from somewhere and held it while Soumitra kaku started rehearsing his lines. I was so
moved by the incident. I took a picture of that moment. I must say that beautiful off-screen moment of the two legends of Bengali cinema Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen will remain with me forever,” said Suman Ghosh while sharing a sweet anecdote.
‘Basu Poribar’ is stated for a release on April 5. The family drama has an ensemble cast including Rituparna Sengupta, Aparna Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee, Sudiptaa Chakraborty, Jisshu Sengupta,
Saswata Chatterjee, Paran Bandopadhyay and Lili Chakraborty.
