It’s been a month he left us yet
Soumitra Chattopadhyay’s absence can be felt everywhere. For those who had known him for years and were also close to the iconic figure, his countless fans; the loss is unbearable.
On Sunday evening, West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum paid an emotional tribute to their late president and proverbial actor, playwright, theatre director, poet, and essayist, late Soumitra Chattopadhyay in a program aptly titled
'Mayanagarer Mayurbahan
'. The initiative gave dollops of nostalgia for every Bengali who witnessed the event online along with those who were present during the program celebrating the spirit of Soumitra.
The emotionally-drenched program was organized on the
Suchitra Sen floor of Technician Studio in
Tollygunge
and it was broadcast live to the public through the forum's Facebook page.

In his long six decades in the
film industry, Soumitra Chattopadhyay had stood tall and mighty like an enduring banyan tree. Under his shadow, there are many who found their true calling, excelled in their parts and showed what it takes to go from strength to strength. Despite the popular screen pairing of Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen during his time, and the many hits they delivered, Soumitra shined like a star in the Tollywood universe.
