A lot of us could not work on our New Year resolutions in 2020 due to the challenges posed by the pandemic. And this year, we are carrying it forward in the hope that the uncertainties will soon get over and life will once again go back to normal. Actor
Shantilal Mukherjee too couldn’t fulfill some of his dreams last year. Talking about it, he told us, “Last year, I wanted to don the director’s hat and direct a full-length play titled Chadbonik er Nouka, which got pushed back because of the pandemic.
This year I plan to make all of that happen and make my directorial debut. In a way, I am happy that the lockdown gave me more time to work extensively on my script. I will not be acting in this project as directing and acting at the same time will be difficult.”
On Sunday, Shantilal held his first open-air theatre at the Academy of Fine Arts. Titled Yuga Nayak, it is based on the teachings of
Swami Vivekananda. “The response we got was overwhelming. There were 120 chairs and each one was occupied. We intend to do more such shows in open forums,” added the actor.
Shantilal recently wrapped up the shoot for Commando in which he shares the screen with
Dev. “It is always nice to work with Dev. I play a terrorist in the film and I have completed my portion of the shoot. Dubbing is yet to be done,” said the actor, who has completed dubbing for Rino Dutta’s City of Jackals where he essays the character of a police officer. The actor is also part of Bhoot Pori where he plays a tantrik.
