Many of us couldn’t concentrate on our New Year resolutions in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, this year, it’s time to carry it forward hoping that the uncertainties will soon get over and life will once again return to normalcy.
Actor Shantilal Mukherjee too couldn’t fulfill some of his dreams last year. Talking about it, he told us, “Last year, I wanted to don the director’s hat and direct a full-length play titled Chadbonik er Nouka, which got pushed back because of the pandemic.

This year I plan to make all of that happen and make my directorial debut. In a way, I am happy that the lockdown gave me more time to work extensively on my script. I will not be acting in this project as directing and acting at the same time will be difficult.”
Recently Shantilal held his first open-air theatre at the Academy of Fine Arts. Titled Yuga Nayak, it is based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. “The response we got was overwhelming. There were 120 chairs and each one was occupied. We intend to do more such shows in open forums,” added the actor.
Shantilal recently completed the shoot for ‘Commando’ in which he shares the screen with Dev. “It is always nice to work with Dev. I play a terrorist in the film and I have completed my portion of the shoot. Dubbing is yet to be done,” said the actor, who has also completed dubbing for Rino Dutta’s ‘City of Jackals’ where he essays the character of a police officer. The actor is also part of ‘Bhoot Pori’ where he plays a tantrik.
