See how Tollywood superstar’s open letter to PM and Bengal CM started a meme fest

Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee sought intervention from the Prime Minister and the Bengal Chief Minister to solve the food delivery app issue, asking ‘what if someone is depending on these food apps for their dinner’. he also clarified that he tweeted this not as ‘actor Prosenjit Chatterjee’, but as a fellow citizen so that no one faces this kind of problem in the near future.

Prosenjit explains why he tagged PM and CM for food delivery app fiasco

The food delivery app fiasco

Not happy with non-delivery of food ordered through a food delivery app, Prosenjit Chatterjee had taken to Twitter to highlight the matter and tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in order to “draw their attention” to the “problem of people going hungry because of their dependence on such apps for food”. But, little did the Tollywood superstar know that the open letter will lead to online trolling and eventually a meme fest.

How it all started

The celebrated actor had alleged that while he had ordered food at his home address, it wasn’t delivered and when inquired the app said that the food was handed over to him. Chatterjee also mentioned that he received the refund after he had raised the issue with the company.

The open letter

“Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and respected Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,

Festive greetings. Hope you are keeping well. I want to draw your attention to an issue I recently faced. On November 3, I placed an order on food delivery app Swiggy. After some time the status of the order changed to delivered but I never received the food. After raising the issue with Swiggy, they refunded me the money since the order was prepaid.

“However, I wanted to draw your attention because I feel anybody can face this issue. What if someone relies on a food app to get food delivered for their guests and the food never arrives? What if someone is depending on these food apps for their dinner?

“Will they stay hungry? There can be many such situations. Thus, I felt it was necessary to talk about it,” that’s what Prosenjit wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Why Prosenjit did it?

The actor later clarified that he just wanted to bring the issue to the notice of the government so that in future these apps which deliver food, medicines act more responsibly.

6/6

He wants these apps to be more responsible

He told media that many people use these apps just like he does. So, he just wanted to say whether the app companies pledge to take the responsibility to fulfill their customer’s urgent needs like food or medicine. They have to be a little more careful or a little more responsible.
