Raja Sen is a happy man!
Sen recountshis experience on the foreign shores, The first screening happened at SanFrancisco on September 19 followed by one in Houston on September 25. OnSeptember 26, the film was shown both at Washington and Atlanta. While I didattend the screenings in San Francisco and Houston, I had to give the Atlantapremiere a miss as the film was shown in Washington too the same day. And Ichose to attend the latter. Having had a successful premierein the US, Raja Sen is now planning to dub Laboratory inHindiIt sure was a tense moment for the director considering thathis audience mostly comprised engineers, doctors scientists and the like.I did not know how the viewers would respond to the big screen adaptationof Laboratory, penned by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, inSan Francisco. But I was relieved to see that they took a liking to my venture. In Houston too, the response was similar and that increased my confidence thatthe audience in Washington would also like Laboratory. I was notwrong in my expectation, admits Sen, whose film is still being screenedin 40 cities in the US every weekend.
The feedback, in fact, was soamazing that viewers in Washington requested a second screening of the film. And this time around, there were more of the non-Bengali speakingaudience. Interestingly, there was a demand that this film should bedubbed in Hindi, continues the film-maker.Ask him what he has thought about the request and Sen says, As far as the Hindi dubbing of the same is concerned, talks are on with producers. And if all goes well, Sen would like to dub with his cast of Raveena Tandon Thadani, Ranjit Mallick, Arpita, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Shaheb Chatterjee. Raveena ji would certainly have no problems with the Hindi dubbing. But I need to see if the rest of the cast is okay with the language. If not, then we have to resort to professional help, the director opines. As of now Sen is busywith a December release of his film in Kolkata. I am sure that myaudience here too will like Laboratory, says the reputedfilm-maker, who is busy scouting for fresh stories for his next.Follow us on Twitter for more stories
