PE-VC investments more than halve to $1.2bn in Aug

Private Equity and Venture Capital investments witnessed a significant decline in August, plummeting by 55% to $1.2 billion compared to $2.8 billion in the same period last year. A notable absence of US-based investors engaging in large PE deals contributed to this downturn. Year-to-date investments also experienced a decrease of 16.5%, reaching $18.4 billion.

CHENNAI: Private Equity- Venture Capital (PE-VC) investments fell by 55% in Aug to $1.2 billion this year against $2.8 billion in the same month of CY2024. Interestingly, US-headquartered investors handling large size PE deals (more than $100 million) were absent during the month.Data released by research firm Venture Intelligence on Monday shows that the YTD (Jan-Aug) investments by PE-VC companies plunged by $3.4 billion (16.5%) this year at $18.4 billion, which was at $21.8 billion during the corresponding period last year. The investments exclude those from the real estate sector.
