‘Pupa’ to be dubbed in Telugu?

Indrashis Acharya’s ‘Pupa’, which has already completed 25 days at the theatres, narrates the mental and emotional turbulence of a confused son struck between his lucrative job in the US and his father- who suffers a brain stroke after his wife’s demise and eventually slips into coma. It’s also the first Bengali film based on the subject of ‘euthanasia’ or ‘right to die’.The intense family drama has received an overwhelming response for its unique content despite limited show timings.
Now rumour has it ‘Pupa’ will be dubbed in Telugu as well. Indrashis has already started planning on it as he wants to reach more audience breaking the language barrier which often creates a problem for regional cinema. Subtitles rather kill the flow of the narrative.
“People would get to relate their personal crisis to the story we have narrated. I think through this film, we have been able to set a trend for realistic films. I want more people to watch the film so that more filmmakers can be inspired to make this kind of films. I want to pint out those areas which the audience would love, would be left with teary eyes,” stated the director.
According to director Indrashis, ‘Pupa’ is mainly a social drama reflecting the perfect dose of emotions and sentiment during personal crisis and he believes despite not being a potential blockbuster, it will create a place in the audience’s heart.
Pupa stars Rahul Banerjee, Sudiptaa Chakraborty and Kamaleshwar Mukherjee in the lead.
