Pouring wishes for Amala Shankar

It’s reigning nostalgia in the Shankar household. As the family’s matriarch — Amala Shankar — stepped into her 100^th year, her near and dear ones shared a few pics from the family album for everyone to see. Tanusree Shankar, who shared quite a few black-and-white photos with her mentor and mother-in-law, wrote on FB: “A woman of substance... Smt Amala Shankar....My Guru and mentor.. My strength and support. My sincere pronam on her 99th birth anniversary..” Sreenanda Shankar, actor-dancer, also wished her grandmother on the special occasion.

“Today is her 99th Birthday... I remember her teaching me how to eat a steak. She used to cut it into little pieces and make it a cube steak for me. How the tables turn! Can’t be in Kolkata today but thinking of her! Thamma, thank you for believing in me. Thank you for being the rock star grandmom. I miss being with you, fighting with you, listening to all your stories about Dadu and Papa. Thank you again for always believing in me even when no one did! I love you!”
