Youve seen her as Durga in Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga on Colors. Now, Piyali Munshi will be seen as one of the leading roles in Rhitobrata Bhattacharyas debut film, Basanto Utsav. I play Trina, a student, whos in a relationship with her professor, Anargha (Pijush Ganguly). The film is shot in Santiniketan. When Trina goes to Santiniketan for Dol Utsav, she is shocked to see her professor there, who had come with his wife, Sumitra (June). Trina and Anargha had planned the trip beforehand so that they could be together. But in course of the film Trina realizes that Anargha wants only to get physical with her and has no mental attachment whatsoever. Trina protests and breaks free from the relationship. Rhitobrata has beautifully explored the madness in love along with the pain and helplessness of being in an extra-marital affair, informed Piyali, who is currently in Gujarat shooting for Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga.
If one remembers, Piyali was also a part of Swapan Sahas films like Keno Kichu Bolo Naa, Abhiman, Mogno Mainak etc. But once she got busy shooting for the Hindi serial, films took a backseat. Thank God I completed shooting for Basanto Utsav last September. So, when I got the opportunity to play Maa Durga, I grabbed it, smiled the actress.
