Debaloy Bhattacharya whose last film ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’ had made a great mark at the 2018 box office is over the moon after directing two highly talented actors like
Anirban Bhattacharya and
Mimi Chakraborty. Titled ‘Dracula Sir’, his next film will see Mimi and Anirban sharing the screen for the first time. It’s also Mimi’s first film after joining politics. Just like her director, the Bengali diva is equally thrilled to be a part of such an interesting project and a different character.
Debaloy has already wrapped up the shooting part and it leaves Mimi a bit emotional. Sharing some candid pictures from the set Mimi wrote on Twitter: “TOTALLY A DIFFERENT ERA DIFFICULT DIALOGUES (atleast for me) A DIFFERENT LOOK AND FEEL ..HOPE YOU ALL LOVE MONJORI(thats me) and our FILM #DraculaSir @svfsocial @debaloy033 @AnirbanSpeaketh See u in theatres soon.”
“This film is my search for the Bengali Dracula without the castle, who is out to create his own myth. Mimi has a melancholia and a sadness that has never been explored. The character of Manjari from 1971 who drives the narrative silently needs the same. I was a fan of Pupe (a role essayed previously by Mimi) from Gaaner Opare days, and this character of Manjari has a shed of Pupe's poise. It’s by sheer luck that Mimi decided a comeback and I was casting for Manjari. And she got the character at a blink! Also, this being her comeback after a sabbatical makes it a double bonanza," an excited Debaloy had shared with us earlier.
Produced by SVF, ‘Dracula Sir’ is the story of a primary school teacher who develops a pair of canine teeth earning the nickname, Dracula Sir. As destiny pushes him towards becoming the vampire he has always been referred to, he has a story to tell from 1971 that makes his journey a tale of finding love and revenge.
