January to see major Tollywood releases
Like every year, Durga Puja will see several talked-about films clashing at the box office. The bouquet of films includes everything from historical ventures, thrillers and adventure movies. While the Puja lineup is almost locked, what with four big films coming on the same date, the box-office rivalry is likely to spill on to the year-end and even early next year.

Kaushik Ganguly
These include Srijit Mukherji’s Dwitiyo Purush, Kaushik Ganguly’s Lakkhi Chhele and Anjan Dutt’s Shaheber Cutlet. Srijit will begin shooting for the psychological thriller, which is a sequel to his popular film, Baishe Srabon, after Puja. Talking to us, he had earlier said, “I will start shooting in October and the film will release in January.” Anjan Dutt, who was caught up with the shoot of Shaheber Cutlet in July and began shooting for Sayantan Ghosal’s Satyanweshi Byomkesh after that, will also be seen in Parmabrata Chatterjee’s Bony, in which he plays a scientist.
Srijit Mukherji (4)P
Said a source close to the director, “He is busy with the post-production of Shaheber Cutlet. It’s a food musical starring Arjun Chakrabarty and Sritama Dey and the director will take time to work on the finer details. It will not be ready before year-end. Anjan is looking at a January release.” The other film in the January race of releases in Lakkhi Chhele. The director is currently shooting the film, which stars Ujaan Ganguly in the lead and the release date in January is currently being worked out. With the BO race hotting up, it will be an interesting start to the year.
