Dev-starrer Amazon Obhijaan is all set to release this Friday and ahead of the release, we delve into what's really speacial about the high-octane film.
From shooting in exotic locations, use of extensive VFX to a budget running into crores — the film packs every ingredient of a blockbuster. Says Dev, "I think it’s the content of the film that makes it special.Budget or promotions come much later. You must give it to the producer who has shown so much of courage to take on such a project. The film is supposed to release in six languages. Normally, people want to tread the tried and tested path. They would always want others to take the risk. Now if this film becomes a hit, it will encourage more producers to seriously think of the content first."
There are one too many foreign actors too who were a part of this adventure film. About this, Dev shares, "Both Svetlana and David James were superb. You get to learn so much from them. I was impressed with their dedication. While David is a South African actor, Svetlana happens to be a Russian model. Though she could speak in broken English, she would always translate the script in her own language and the three of us would then rehearse together. Interestingly, they have more dialogues than me. Though they didn’t know Bengali, they would try to give their best. And that’s definitely praiseworthy. On the other hand, my character Shankar is more of an introvert, who would silently observe and implement whatever he had to do. Besides, we had more than 15 Brazilian actors working with us. All of them are popular TV stars there. For me, Amazon Obhijaan is truly an international film."
