She is in Dhaka since the lockdown started spending time with family and her two furry babies Salty and Cleo. But deep inside, Jaya Ahsan is tensed. The uncertain future of entertainment industry leaves her baffled. She believes even if the lockdown is over People will be scared to go to cinema halls as there will be other priorities.
“Being a part of this entertainment industry, it is really difficult to even think about the uncertain future looming over our fraternity.Even if the lockdown is over, entertainment will be perhaps the last thing on everyone’s minds. It’s understandable. Their priorities will be completely different then. Most people won’t even think about going to the cinemas. For us, the actors, our livelihood depends on those payments we get after completing the projects. It’s no work, no pay for us. How long can we sustain on our savings? But I am still hopeful that we will overcome this crisis soon,” the Bangladeshi actress tries to remain optimistic.
The tag of a superstar rests lightly on Jaya Ahsan’s shoulders. The four-time Bangladeshi National Award-winning actor whose first film opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee, ‘Robibaar’, received critical acclaims wants to be identified as an artiste instead of a star.
Leave alone Dhaka, Jaya Ahsan has been giving sleepless nights to heroines here in Tollywood as well. She has worked with almost all the celebrated directors such as including Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherjee, Arindam Sil, Atanu Ghosh, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, Indranil Roychoudhury, Birsa Dasgupta and Soukarya Ghosal, among others. Jaya has always carefully opted for movies, which deliver strong messages.
On the work front, she will next be seen in Soukarya Ghosal’s ‘Bhoot Pori’ and Atanu Ghosh’s ‘Binisutoy’.
