Dhaka calling for Srijit’s films
Srijit Mukherji is enjoying the ‘best of both worlds’ right now, as his films are really going places. For one, two of his films, Uma and Begum Jaan, are being screened at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which starts in Goa from November 20. Then, in January next year, his Uma and Ek Je Chhilo Raja are being screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival 2019.
Speaking to us about this, Srijit said, “I’m enjoying the best of both worlds.
1x1 polls
It’s indeed an honour that my films, that too two each, have been selected for both festivals. It’s rare for two films by one filmmaker being screened at the same edition of the Dhaka film fest.”
At IFFI, Uma is being screened as part of the feature section of Indian Panorama, along with five other Bengali films — Kaushik Ganguly’s NagarKirtan, Abhishek Saha’s Uronchondi, Arijit Singh’s Sa, Arjun Dutta’s Abyakto. The Vidya Balan-starrer, Begum Jaan, will be screened as part of the State Focus category, with Jharkhand in focus. The fest will also celebrate Jharkhand Day on November 24 and showcase several films made in the state, including Death in the Gunj, Ranchi Diaries and Begum Jaan.
