Chanchal Chowdhury has finally put an end to the ongoing speculation. The seasoned actor who is currently on cloud nine after getting appreciation from all corners for his stellar performances in ‘Hawa’ and ‘Karagar’ has confirmed that he’s not a part of
Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Munna Bhai 3’. But there’s an interesting catch as Chanchal hinted that he is in talks with a popular OTT platform for an upcoming project which will be directed by
Rajkumar Hirani.
While commenting on the rumours doing the rounds Chanchal shared, "First of all, let me be clear I am not doing 'Munna Bhai 3'. Recently, the chief operating officer of an OTT platform dropped a post praising me for 'Karagar'. There was a twist in his post which made all think that I am a part of the film, but that is not what actually he meant."
He further added, "Many streaming platforms are now interested in Bengali contents as Bangladesh and Bengali audiences are a great market. So, the popular streaming platform is looking to expand in Bangladesh and create Bengali contents and they want to cast actors from both Bangladesh and Mumbai. I am in talks with them for an upcoming project which might be directed by Rajkumar Hirani. I can’t confirm anything right now because the project hasn’t yet been finalized."
Interestingly, the tweet which created so much confusion read, "Brother you are a true artiste with God Gifted acting skills and mesmerising expression to hypnotize anyone with your performance. See you very soon in our casting table, and let's plan something big. Wishing you all the success for your near future.”
The speculation of Chanchal Chowdhury might act in Munna Bhai franchise started when the OTT official wrote at the end of her post, "By the way mamu munna bhai is looking for you. Samajhdaar ke liye isharai khafi hoti hai (gestures is more than enough for a wise man) Superstar From Bangladesh Love you Infinitely."
However, Chanchal Chowdhury has clarified the misunderstanding on social media saying that the director of ‘Munna Bhai’ Rajkumar Hirani is also fondly called "Mamu Munna" among his close associates. So, the reference in the tweet was actually hinting at the ace director all along.
Rajkumar Hirani directed the 2003 hit film ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ and then followed it up with the much-loved sequel ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’.
