‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’ – March 6

‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’ is a dramatic comedy that makes one ponder about the outdated rites and rituals and questions the gender imbalance in society. The story revolves around Shabari (Ritabhari Chakraborty), who is a lecturer and performing artiste. She is into another profession too. She is a woman priest! When a chance encounter with Vikramaditya (Soham Majumdar) at a college function leads to a marriage proposal, she clearly tells the would-be groom about her multiple identities. Her words are misinterpreted and Shabari is forced to keep one important part of her life under wraps due to the stark differences between the worlds she belong to, pre and post marriage.

‘Parcel’ – March 13

‘Parcel’ has a non-explicit, realistic and open-ended script. It shows human reactions to certain situations without the reasons being told. Here, Rituparna Sengupta and Saswata Chatterjee play a doctor couple with a teenage daughter. Rituparna’s character Nandini starts receiving her pictures, new and old, in parcels from some unknown sender. This leads to a fear psychosis in her mind and she starts suspecting a few known people around her. Meanwhile, Saswata’s character suffers a setback when a death occurs at the hospital and a crisis develops around whether it was a natural death or was it due to his negligence. These two crises lead to the main crisis in the movie.

Plus, his mother is in death bed. His father was a renowned sports journalist, who died earlier. When Anirban Sengupta felt that he reached the dead end, a ray of hope suddenly came out. ‘Ebhabei Golpo Hok’ – March 13

Joy Sengupta plays a film director who is trying to move out of his comfort zone while making a love story. Thriller used to be his preferred genre once. Since he himself is in a crisis, making a romantic film seems extremely difficult. However, he thinks of a story and starts telling his assistant the story. Suddenly the filmmaker sees a novel by a writer which has the same storyline. What happens next forms the crux of the film. The love story is a simple one and has nothing out of the blue.
