Bansuri shoot stalled in Jalpaiguri

The shoot of Hari Viswanathan’s second film, Bansuri, had to be stopped midway in Jalpaiguri on Wednesday because of a law and order problem. The trouble began on Wednesday morning, when the film’s team, which included Rituparna Sengupta, began shooting at the Jalpaiguri Hospital. A group of locals gathered on the hospital campus to catch a glimpse Rituparna and in the process, they blocked the main entrance to the hospital.

This created problems for patients and resulted in utter chaos. Things reached such a stage that the additional district magistrate ordered the chief medical officer, Jagannath Sarkar, to stop the shoot immediately.
When asked about the matter, Satarupa Sanyal, who was coordinating the shoot, said they had all the required permissions for the shoot. “Since Rituparna was present, a crowd had gathered, but it was nothing unmanageable. The shoot was taking place on the hospital campus and not in any particular ward. So, there was no way that the patients could have faced any hardships. The problem started with two men, who claimed to be journalists and wanted to talk to Rituparna on the floor. As the shoot was on, we couldn’t allow them. Following that, they started instigating the local people and created a ruckus. We were scheduled to shoot one scene there but we couldn’t complete it because of the problem,” she said.
The hospital authorities, however, had a different version of the story. According to a hospital source, they didn’t have any information regarding the shoot of a feature film. The unit had allegedly taken permission to shoot a documentary film for two hours between 9 am and 11 am.
Bansuri also stars Anurag Kashyap, Raghuvir Yadav and Chitrangada Chakraborty.
