Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh to have only two more films?

Amidst the speculation around an octogenarian Byomkesh in an upcoming spin-off, fans of Abir Chatterjee are eagerly waiting for the next ‘usual’ detective-mystery from Arindam Sil. The good news is that from June 2018, the director will start shooting for his next film based on the story ‘Rakter Daag’. His last film in the popular detective series came in 2016.
But, if latest reports are to be believed then Arindam will stop making Byomkesh films after completing two more; namely ‘Rakter Daag’ and ‘Durgo Rahasya’. Anjan Dutt initially planned to do a movie on ‘Durgo Rahasya’ but later requested Arindam to make the film based on the story.
Abir Chatterjee made his debut in Anjan Dutt’s 2010 hit ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ and has since starred in 4 more movies from the popular sleuth series. The franchise is now trying something different as the producers opt to modify the latest film, ‘Bidaye Byomkesh’ to current Kolkata. The main difference will be the lead actor essaying two roles – an aged version of the title character and the grandson Satyaki.
