Anirban Bhattacharya's Ballabhpurer Roopkotha is a quirky horror comedy
Anirban Bhattacharya's debut directorial feature film Ballabhpurer Roopkotha is all set for a release, and Bhattacharya is happy with the response the teaser has received. Adapted from thespian Badal Sarkar's play of the same name, the offbeat horror comedy looks promising and stars Satyam Bhattacharya, Surangana Bandhopadhyay, Shyamal Chakraborty, Kripabindu Chowdhury and Surajit Sarkar.
“I have been extremely fond of horror comedies since childhood.

Bengali movies that parallelly experiment with horror and satire are few in number. My film will surprise the audience in every way, and I want to keep it as blithe and effervescent as possible,” says Anirban, who has also penned the movie’s screenplay along with Prateek Dutta.
The film aims to deliver an unexpected reimagining of the horror comedy sub-genre, with its own unique tropes and cinematic language, centred around the haunted house aesthetic and quirky narration which carefully control the tension in the film. Ballabhpurer Roopkatha tells the story of an erstwhile, 400-year-old

in shambles. Its only inhabitants are the last descendant of the Ray dynasty – Bhupati Ray, and his manservant Manohar, who land themselves in a sea of trouble when they attempt to sell the property.
