Recently a biopic on Soumitra Chattopadhyay, titled ‘Abhijaan’, got released and director Parambrata Chattopadhyay had to face criticism for misrepresentation of facts from the late actor’s life. So it will be interesting to see how Atanu’s film scores since any work related to

‘Achena Uttam’, with an ensemble cast, aims to shed light beyond Uttam Kumar’s public persona and film journey. The film will see Rituparna Sengupta as Suchitra Sen, Ditipriya Roy as Sabitri Chatterjee and Priyanshu Chatterjee as Satyajit Ray.

The biopic will also feature debutant Tirtharaj Basu in Uttam Kumar’s younger age while actress Srabanti Chatterjee will play his wife Gouri Devi.

“Playing difficult characters is definitely challenging but playing the Mahanayak is not only difficult, but one can’t also prepare himself for such roles as no preparation is enough for these kinds of roles,” Saswata had earlier shared.

For the unversed, Saswata Chatterjee had also portrayed a character inspired by the legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, in Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ in 2013. Recalling that experience of playing a character based on Ritwik Ghatak Saswata added, “It was one of the toughest roles. This time also it will be difficult, but I am confident people will get to see an unknown Mahanayak.”
