Meanwhile, this year, the Kolkata International Film Festival inauguration has been shifted from Netaji Indoor Stadium to Nabanna Sabhaghar. On January 8, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the 26th KIFF in the presence of all the committee members in charge of organizing the prestigious film fest.

On the other hand, among 1,170 movies that were submitted for consideration, the authorities have selected 132 feature films, documentaries and short films to be screened at eight different venues. Among these 132 films, there are 81 feature films, 50 short films and documentaries from as many as 45 countries. But no international delegates will be physically present this year. Talks are on to get outstation celebs to join the inauguration ceremony virtually.

The Kolkata International Film Festival was supposed to be organized in November last year but was shifted to January considering the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
