Will Abir Chatterjee make the most of 2019?

He has become one of the most bankable stars of Bengali cinema over the years. Abir Chatterjee steals million hearts with his enigmatic persona, be it playing Byomkesh, the detective or the quintessential dashing romantic hero. The wide range of characters he has portrayed point out exactly why he is any director’s automatic choice now. And as per industry sources, the Tollywood heartthrob will have as many as nine releases in 2019.
Kaushuk Ganguly's ‘Bijoya’, Srijit's ‘Shah Jahan Regency’, Manoj Michigan's ‘Tritiya Adhyay’ were supposed to hit the theatres this year but all of them got postponed due to various reasons. While ‘Bijoya’ releasing on January 4, ‘Shah Jahan Regency’ has locked its release date on January 18. ‘Tritiya Adhyay’ will release on February 8.
Beside these three films, Abir has the second film of Sonada franchise ‘Durgeshgawrer Guptodhan’, Mainak Bhaumik's thriller ‘Barnoporichoy’ and four other movies slated to release next year. These four movies include Anjan Dutt’s ‘Operation Writers’, the next Byomkesh film and one more film directed by Arindam Sil.
Among the other most desirable Tolly actors, Jisshu Sengupta is giving more time to Bollywood and the much-anticipated NTR biopic, while Parambrata is busy with his direction and production works which is why Abir seems to be is the only choice for now.
