Kodansha, a major player in Japan's publishing industry since it was founded in 1909 by Seiji Noma, is well-known for its important role in literature and manga. In 1977, the company began the Kodansha Manga Awards to recognise outstanding manga works in different genres. This award has highlighted many influential titles over the years, reflecting how manga storytelling has changed.
The 49th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards continues this tradition, featuring a variety of nominees in three main categories: Shōnen, Shōjo, and General. This year’s selections include both new talents and established creators, showing Kodansha’s dedication to recognising excellence in the manga field. The winners will be announced on May 12, 2025, adding new names to the list of respected award recipients.
