Perambur election results 2026: TVK’s Sivakumar wins by 14,393 votes

Perambur has delivered a close result, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s K Sivakumar winning the seat by a narrow margin. With counting complete (28/28 rounds), Sivakumar secured 90,882 votes, defeating DMK’s Dr S T Jayalakshmi, who polled 76,489 votes. AIADMK’s R Thamizselvan followed closely in third with 72,716 votes.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, R D Shekar (DMK) won with 1,05,267 votes, defeating AIADMK’s N R Dhanapalan, who secured 50,291 votes, by a margin of 54,976 votes. In 2016, AIADMK’s P Vetrivel had won with 79,974 votes, defeating DMK’s N R Dhanapalan, who secured 79,455 votes, by a narrow margin of 519 votes.

Perambur recorded steady voter participation, reflecting continued electoral engagement in this urban constituency.

Perambur (Assembly Constituency No. 12), is a thickly populated urban seat in North Chennai dominated by working-class and lower-middle-class neighbourhoods. Its growth and character have been closely linked to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), railway colonies and long-standing residential areas.
