Madhavaram election results 2026: TVK’s Vijayprabhu wins by 94,985 votes

Madhavaram delivered a clear result, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s M L Vijayprabhu winning the seat by a huge margin. With counting complete (19/19 rounds), Vijayprabhu secured 1,90,462 votes, defeating DMK’s S Sudharsanam, who polled 95,477 votes. AIADMK’s V Moorthy finished third with 59,290 votes.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, S Sudharsanam (DMK) won with 1,51,485 votes, defeating AIADMK’s V Moorthy, who secured 94,414 votes, by a margin of 57,071 votes. In 2016, Sudharsanam (DMK) had won with 1,22,082 votes, defeating AIADMK’s D Dhakshnamoorthy, who secured 1,06,829 votes, by a margin of 15,253 votes.

Madhavaram recorded steady voter participation, reflecting continued electoral engagement in this urban constituency.

Madhavaram (Assembly Constituency No. 9), is located in North Chennai along the Inner Ring Road and the Grand Northern Trunk corridor, and is among the city’s rapidly urbanising constituencies. Its growth has been driven by major transport links, high-density residential development and logistics-related activity. The constituency is widely identified with the Madhavaram Integrated Bus Terminus (MIBT), one of the largest bus terminals in Asia, and the historic Madhavaram Dairy, closely linked to Chennai’s Aavin milk supply. Persistent local issues include severe traffic congestion in and around the MIBT, flooding and waterlogging during the monsoon, inadequate stormwater drainage systems, drinking water scarcity in summer months, gaps in solid waste management and sanitation, poor condition of interior roads, and rising air and noise pollution levels.
