Copter brought security kit in ‘black box’ to PM rally: Cops
BENGALURU: Clearing the air about the mysterious ‘black box’ brought to Karnataka’s Chitradurga in a special chopper minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally there last week, Chitradurga DCP Vinoth Priya and SP K Arun on Monday said it contained security and logistics material.
At a joint press conference in Chitradurga on Monday, they said they didn’t personally check the vehicle but
“The SPG did not allow us to check the box and vehicle. We have videos of the vehicle carrying the box from the helipad to the podium and from there to Mysuru,” Arun said, adding that SPG denied district police permission to check the helicopter and special aircraft.
He said, “We’re not authorised to check vehicles and choppers of VVIPs as per Election Commission’s guidelines. The car driver said the box contained security material.”
