Kumbh 2019 proves boon for BJP win from Allahabad, Phulpur

Kumbh 2019 proves boon for BJP win from Allahabad, Phulpur
ALLAHABAD: Now that both the seats of the district, Allahabad and Phulpur, have been won by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), the votes secured by the winning candidates in different assemblies of both the Lok Sabha seats proves that it was Kumbh which proved fruitful for the party.
If the margin of votes secured by the winning candidate from both the seats are scrutinized closely, it is blatantly clear that both the candidates got a comfortable majority in city areas of the two seats as compared to rural segments.

In fact, of the two, the difference of margin at Phulpur gives an authentic picture of how the mega religious event of Kumbh 2019 favoured the winning candidate Keshari Devi Patel.
Phulpur consists of five assembly seats including three rural segments of Phaphamau, Soraon and Phulpur and two city areas of Allahabad North and Allahabad West.
Allahabad North is the assembly seat which had witnessed maximum works related to Kumbh and the combined difference of votes that she secured against her gathbandhan rival Pandhari Yadav.
The victory margin of Keshari Devi at Phaphamau was 25,205 votes, at Soraon it was 17,634 votes and at Phulpur she managed to get a slender margin of just 10,584 votes. Of this total votes (53,423), she took the lead of 60,912 votes from Allahabad North. The huge difference in margin was despite the fact that the voting percentage at this seat was just 41%, lowest among the five assemblies of Phulpur seat.

Adding to this, Allahabad West, where poll percent was 44.9%, gave her the lead of 56745 votes and she finally defeated Yadav by a margin of 171968 votes.
In total she got 544701 votes while Yadav secured 372733 votes.
Similarly, the margin of votes secured by Rita Joshi in the five assembly seats comprising Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency gives the same impression.
Allahabad constitute four rural segments that of Karchana, Meja, Bara, Koraon and one city area of Allahabad South.
Now, the victory margin of Joshi at Meja was just 16886 votes while at Karchana it was 27853 votes. Both these seats are considered as strong hold of SP and witnessed over 52% of polling.
In comparison to this, her victory margin from Allahabad South was 51,113 votes despite the fact that the polling percent at this assembly seat was 40.38%, the lowest in terms of all the 10 assembly seats of Allahabad and Phulpur.
“Kumbh did paid well for the BJP because despite a low poll percentage at all the three assembly seats of both the Lok Sabha seats, the victory margin of BJP candidate proved invincible which shows that voters were impressed by the work done during Kumbh, which were more in city as compared to rural areas”, said Prof MP Dubey of the department of Political Science department of AU.
