Disgruntled central govt employees to vote NOTA
HYDERABAD: As campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls gains momentum, central government employees—who form a sizeable chunk of voters in the Malkajgiri constituency—say that they will vote NOTA as the construction activity leading to sanitation issues and pollution of lakes has not been addressed for several years now despite several appeals to politicians and government department officials.
Disappointed with their leaders, a group of central government employees are reaching out to as many households as they can in the constituency asking people to support their campaign.
“We are tired of running around government offices and requesting local leaders to solve our problems. We are treated like second class citizens. Simple issues like road repairs are also ignored. We don’t see any other option than to vote NOTA,” said Subbiram Reddy, a central government employee who resides at Kukatpally. “Every contestant promises clean lakes, better sanitation and other development works before coming into power but turns a blind eye to the problems after getting elected,” he added.
A former railway employee, M Veeresh said, “There is no point in voting for these leaders. They just make promises before elections but do not address them after getting elected. My vote is going to be NOTA this times.”
With about 31 lakh voters—which includes central government employees from the Electronics Corporation of India Limited, South Central Railway and the Armed Forces—Malakajgiri is the biggest parliamentary seat in the country. It comprises assembly segments such as Medchal, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad-Cantonment, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Uppal and LB Nagar.
