MP: Professor suspended for predicting BJP’s victory

INDORE: A professor of Vikram University in

Ujjain

was suspended on Wednesday after he was found violating the model code of conduct by predicting BJP's victory in the

Lok Sabha elections

and posting his predictions on social media.


Dr Raju Musalgaonkar, a professor of Sanskrit at Vikram University, was suspended following instructions of the divisional commissioner.

Dr Musalgaonkar had posted on social media on April 29 that BJP will secure around 300 seats and NDA will cross the 300-mark.

A complaint in this regard was filed by state Youth Congress secretary Bablu Khinchi demanding termination of professor’s services for uploading posts favouring BJP and violating the model code of conduct.

The professor was issued a show-cause notice. After examination of his reply, the divisional commissioner had issued instructions to take disciplinary action against him.

Vikram University vice-chancellor has attached Dr Musalgaonkar to the Geology Department during the period of suspension.
