Lok Sabha elections: Computer Baba to campaign for Congress in 5 Hindi-speaking states

BHOPAL:

Computer baba

is back in action. He announced on Thursday that he and bands of sadhus will campaign for Congress in all Hindi-speaking states in the Lok Sabha polls.

The sant samaj will work for Congress, "just like it did in assembly elections", he said. "Saints from across the country will campaign for Congress in all Hindi-speaking states - MP, UP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Bihar," he told TOI.

Baba's campaign was confined to MP during the assembly polls held last year. He was recently appointed president of a trust for conservation of three holy rivers - Mandakini, Kshipra and Narmada. "The sant samaj is angry with Narendra Modi government. After tall promises, neither was Ram temple built nor did they do any work to clean River Ganga, hurting the sentiments of Hindus," he said.

During the 2018 assembly polls, sadhus took out a large number of rallies and campaigned for Congress extensively, exposing the BJP, Computer Baba said. "This time, our campaign will start after Navratra on April 6. After performing Durga puja, sadhus will begin their campaign," he said.

Asked about Digvijaya Singh, he said: "We will campaign for Digvijaya, who performed the gruelling Narmada Yatra. He walked along the river for more than 3,000 km."

Criticising BJP, he said: "The BJP government in MP was interested more in exploiting the river and illegal sand mining, and not its conservation," he alleged.

Asked if he wants to contest the election, he said: "I have not asked for a ticket from Congress but I can win from any place."
