Independent candidate from Varanasi fined in Bina
BHOPAL: An advocate, who is contesting as an independent candidate against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi constituency, was slapped a fine of Rs 2500 fine by Bina SDM after he distributed campaign material which did not carry any printline.
The candidate Bharat Sen of Bina town was found violating the Representation of Peoples Act by SDM KL Mina on Saturday. He was served a show cause notice after his pamphlets were found pasted on the premises of the SDM office. He had also distributed the posters and pamphlets in other parts of the city.
“As I am contesting against Modi, I wanted to seek the blessings of the people of Bina, hence I distributed the campaign material”, he told the local media. He said that the SDM issued a show-cause notice. “I apologised for my act, but the SDM slapped a fine of Rs 2500. I will deposit the fine”, Sen said.
