BHOPAL

: Former minister and BJP MLA Kamal Patel’s son

Sudeep Patel

has been booked for allegedly threatening to kill a local Congress leader and lawyer

Sukhram Bamre

.

A zero FIR was registered against Sudeep Patel at the Kotwali police station in Harda on Sunday night and the case then transferred to the Civil Lines police station.

The action was taken after an audio clip went viral on Monday in which Sudeep Patel is allegedly heard threatening and abusing a scheduled-caste Congress leader in filthy language over telephone. Sudeep Patel allegedly also used offensive words against chief minister Kamal Nath. Sudeep Patel allegedly used offensive words against Nath after his mother’s name was mentioned by the Congress on social media as a beneficiary of Nath government’s farm loan waiver scheme.

Speaking to TOI, SDOP Harda M K Malviya said that the case has been registered against Sudeep Patel under sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 294 (obscenity), 509 (insult to modesty of woman) of the IPC as well as various sections under the IT Act and ST/CT Prevention of Atricities Act for using caste-related words against Bamre, a scheduled-caste leader.

At 10:30 on Sunday night, Sudeep called Sukhram Bamre. He allegedly abused him and threatened to break his bones and kill him. In the audio clip, Sudeep Patel is allegedly heard saying, “Sukhram Bamre bol raha hai tu? Tu bahat bada wakil hai naa? Rekha Patel ka naam kaise likha? Teri…..” (Are you Sukhram Bamra speaking? You are a big lawyer? How did you write the name of Rekha Patel?) And then the man relentlessly abuses for the next ten minutes.
