BJP to soon release manifesto for Delhi
NEW DELHI: BJP will soon come out with a
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said he has identified some important issues to improve the lifestyle of the city’s residents, which is going to be their focus for the next five years.
“Our main emphasis will be housing for all. Our government has done a lot in the last five years to decongest Delhi by constructing and expanding highways. In our next term, we will work with renewed energy to build more peripheral roads and highways. Making Delhi garbage-free will also be a focus area,” said Tiwari.
“We will provide houses to everyone by 2022. That is our biggest sankalp (pledge),” he added.
A senior party leader said the separate manifesto was discussed in a meeting on Monday and soon a committee will be set up to prepare it detailed document will be prepared to show how the central government, with the help of Delhi leaders, will work towards achieving the promises. “The Delhi manifesto will mention how the Centre will complete projects that couldn’t be done because of the uncooperative attitude of the AAP government,” said Tiwari.
The state BJP chief said that all seven MPs had adopted villages in the capital under Adarsh Gram Yojana and pledged to transform them. “While we managed to do a lot of work, certain aspects couldn’t be done due to Delhi government being uncooperative. We will complete those works and also adopt new villages in the next five years,” Tiwari added.
Construction of more railway halts, beautification of rural areas and improved sanitation will also be focus areas for the party. Tiwari said that BJP will also release an email ID to invite suggestions from the public and party workers to include in the Delhi manifesto.
Former mayor and convener of the policy and research team, Arti Mehra, said she has worked on a document mentioning the issues plaguing the capital and their solutions. “The exercise was done after feedback from stakeholders and interest groups. Pollution and women’s security have emerged as major concerns. Scientific disposal of garbage, providing amenities in unauthorised colonies, traffic management and smart parking are other issues,” she added.
