ACT-II: Rajpal meets Sheila Dikshit for poll role
NEW DELHI:
Dikshit said Yadav had, in fact, met her in February and expressed his desire to contest from Delhi. “He made a formal request to be considered and fielded from Delhi. It is now up to the central election committee of the party to decide,” Dikshit told TOI.
A senior Delhi Congress leader said Yadav has shown interest to contest from northeast Delhi parliamentary constituency currently held by Delhi BJP president and popular Bhojpuri singer-actor Manoj Tiwari.
“He is willing to contest the elections as Congress candidate from northeast Delhi. Since we are in talks with AAP and alliance is on cards, no commitment has been made to him,” said the leader.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, Yadav said his idea was to contest Lok Sabha elections from Delhi as the connectivity between Mumbai, where he currently lives, and the national capital was good and he can easily commute regularly.
