Counting is underway across four states and union territories, with the picture becoming clearer in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97, which already crosses the majority mark if those leads hold. The Congress-led grouping is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house, no alliance has crossed that threshold. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, bringing its tally to 60, while NDA has a tally of 55 with no wins declared. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 105 seats with 10 declared, giving a combined tally of 115, still 3 short of the majority mark.
