DEHRADUN: Despite tough weather conditions and a thick layer of snow in the higher reaches, election officials trekked long distances to reach the homes of those who are differently-abled and senior citizens above the age of 80 to ensure all could exercise their franchise.
Roughly 15,940 such people voted at home through postal ballots in Uttarakhand.

Even in adverse conditions such as heavy snowfall, the process was completed by 2,241 polling officials under a transparent system. In many instances, polling teams trekked a distance of about 10 to 15 kilometres. Postal ballots were issued to a total of 17,068 differently-abled and over 80 voters.
