Votes are being counted across four state assemblies and the picture is taking shape at different paces in each. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. The Congress-led alliance is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, and its tally stands at 22. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in the state. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark is 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, putting its tally at 60, while NDA is leading in 55 with no seats declared, giving it a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in enough seats to place their tally at 115, still 3 short of the majority mark. In West Bengal, BJP holds the highest tally of 179 across the 294-seat house, with 11 seats won and leads in 168 more.
