Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 are scheduled to take place on May 10 with the results set to be announced on May 13. The state will see a three-way contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Indian National Congress, and the Janata Dal (Secular). The BJP, which is the ruling party and is seeking to retain power, has fielded candidates in all 224 Assembly constituencies. The Congress has fielded candidates in 223 seats, while the Janata Dal (Secular) is contesting 207 seats and will support other parties in seven seats.
The withdrawal of candidatures for the
Assembly elections in Karnataka ended on April 24, with a total of 2,613 candidates in the fray. Of these, 2,427 are male, 184 are female, and 2 belong to other genders, according to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka. There are 685 candidates from Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPP) and 918 independents. In addition to the
BJP,
Congress, and
JD (S), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded 209 candidates, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded 133, while four candidates are contesting on the Communist Party of India (Marxist) ticket, eight on Janata Dal (United), and two on National People's Party (NPP) ticket.
