Belgaum Rural assembly seat in Karnataka’s Belgaum district is one of the eight constituencies which make up Belgaum Lok Sabha seat. Karnataka has a total of 224 assembly constituencies. This constituency came into existence after redrawing of the assembly map in 2008. Prior to that most of its area was under the now defunct Uchagaon seat.
Karnataka Assembly Election Result 2023 Live UpdatesIn 2018, this constituency was won by the Congress’s Laxmi R Hebbalkar who defeated Sanjay B Patil of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a margin of 51,724 votes.
She had secured a total of 1,02,040 votes while Patil received 50,316 votes.
Patil was the winner of the 2013 elections with a total of 38,322 votes. then Independent candidate Kinekar Manohar Kallappa stood second with 36,987 votes. He lost by mere 1,335 votes.
Patil was also the winner of the 2008 elections from this seat by securing a total of 42,208 votes. Congress candidate Malagi Shivaputrappa Chanabasappa stood second with total 33,899 votes. He lost by 8,309 votes.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Angadi Suresh Channabasappa won the Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 3,91,304 votes by defeating Sadhunavar of the Congress.
In 2018, the legislative assembly constituency had a total of 2,40,389 electors.
