Kanakapura Election Results: Assembly seat details, MLAs, candidates & more

Kanakapura is one of the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka which goes to polls on May 10. It is one of the 8 seats which make up Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2018 assembly elections, Indian National Congress (INC) leader DK Shivakumar won from Kanakapura seat by defeating Janata Dal (Secular) leader Narayana Gowda.

Shivakumar had emerged victorious in the 2013 and 2008 Karnataka assembly elections as well. He is currently the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

This year too, Shivakumar is contesting the elections from Kanakapura assembly constituency.

Kanakapura assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 83.63 per cent in 2018.

In the 2018 assembly elections, BJP had won 104 out of 223 seats that the party had contested. The Congress and JD(S) together won 117 seats in 2018.

Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held in a single phase on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13. For the elections, 58,282 polling stations will be set up in the state.

There are a total of 5.21 crore voters in Karnataka and the number of 100+ voters is 16,976.

The term of the 224-member Karnataka assembly ends on May 24.
