Bharatiya Janata Party
- The country's largest political party in terms of representation in the Parliament and state assemblies, the Bharatiya Janata party has for long been identified as having close ideological and organisational links with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. However, it has tried very hard to reinvent itself on the line of development politics.
- For long, the party's key issue has been the rebuilding of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. However, the 1998-2004 NDA government, instead, focused on a largely neoliberal economic policy prioritising globalisation and economic growth over social welfare. And, this is what is reflected in its manifestoes across states which are going for polls in 2017.
- The manifesto for Goa was released by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis who promised to make the state 'unemployment free' in five years, if voted to power. To achieve this objective, the party proposed to make Goa more investor-friendly and IT driven while strengthening its tourism base and agro-based sectors. It has said that they will provide loan facilities to all agro-based activities at a nominal one per cent interest rate linked to the Krishi card. It has promised world-class infrastructural development besides developing a comprehensive mobility plan.
